Desk Chair Redo

I have not jumped off the face of the earth. I debated on deleting this blog and did for a week or so. I decided to put it back up and keep the organizational and craft things here. My hits are generally on those items thus my decision to continue those things. I am not going to make any promises, but will do the best I can for posting. I am currently on a week break before I am back to setting up my classroom. I am also working on my masters and will finish this spring which means my life has been crazy. If anyone EVER considers taking three master's level classes in a 8 week summer session...don't. It has been crazy, but my wonderful husband made it possible. While doing all of this schoolwork, I desperately needed to complete a craft project.

I decided to work on the desk chair my girls use. Let me tell you.....it was disgusting.

See... disgusting. I hated seeing this thing, but never thought to recover it until this summer. I used dish towels that I purchased at Target last year. I have used these dish towels to make curtains last year. I wish I had bought more so I could do more projects, but alas I did not.

We went with the darker towel on the seat to maybe help with the staining. The girls have also been told that they are not to eat in this chair, but we will see how long that lasts.  This project took about 20 minutes including gathering materials and cleaning up. I wish I had done this earlier, but at least it is finished now.

Still Seriously Slacking

I don't know where this month has gone. It's hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day of the month, but it is. Last post I had said that I had pictures I wanted to post, so I am going to make this a picture heavy post as a recap to the month.

Melodye has become quite a chalk artist.

While working on this she had a one track mind. We were getting ready to leave, but we waited for her to finish because she had begged.

The finished product are Daisy and Peach from Mario Bros. We have a definite Mario Bros. obsession going on in this house.

Sunday I made new curtains for the kitchen. Tommy doesn't really like them, but I really do I think they are quite fun. I used kitchen towels from Target to make these. I also bought this set to make a tote bag someday.

This weekend Jeff, Kelly, and Ethan came over.  I think you can guess what we did  looking at these pictures.
That is the highlights of this month in pictures. And I also finished this book.
Dark of Night (Troubleshooters #14) Dark of Night by Suzanne Brockmann

This one was amazing. I really think that I enjoyed this one because I had just read the previous one just a day before. I really do wish that Suzanne would put these books out more often. The characters are completely believable and likeable. Once you really want to know about a character, Suzanne just mentions that character in the next book. But at the same time introduces other characters that you start liking just as much.

I do not know where the week went. I really did plan on posting the pictures of the Home Decorating Projects, but I didn't. So here they are now.

This is in our entryway when you come in the front door. The Welcome sign up above the project was picked up at the Blueberry Festival a few years ago.
This is the front door. It will be repainted this summer. I do think that something needs to go on each side of the numbers, but I have not decided what will go there.

This week I also read a book.

I had a little trouble getting into this book, but I think that had more to do with my schedule instead of the book. Once I go into the book, I did not want to stop reading. In fact, I was up to 2:00 am reading. I have not read the other Ali Reynolds books, but I definitely will be looking them up. Cruel Intent is a very up to date book with the references to the internet and viruses. At the same time that this is a fiction book it does have an influence on what everyone needs to be aware of safety wise with the internet.

Last weekend Maddy and Nonnie stayed the night. Brooke and Maddy went to bed. After awhile I went to check on them. This is what I found. The two of them had been reading in bed for quite awhile. There was a pile of books between the two of them. I loved seeing the two of them reading without any provocation.

An Accomplishment

I completed two Home Decoration Projects tonight. No pictures because I completed the projects 9:30 at night which makes for awful looking pictures. The first project was in the entry way announcing our family. I have been wanting to do this for almost two years. Yes, you read that right. I finally bit the bullect and told myself to stop worrying about perfection. Now I am so glad that I finished. I love how it looks. I can't wait to take the picture tomorrow. The other project was for decoration and safety purposes. We do have our house number on the house, but I decided that I wanted to add it to the door, but now I am thinking of putting some kind of shape before and after the numbers. I am going to have to ponder this idea a little before I decide. I used the Cricut Expression with vinyl using the Alphalicious cartridge to complete the projects that I promise you will see tomorrow.
