Update on Pictures

Now as I have said before, I am going to do A Picture a Day for 2009. But I did not start until January 2.

So here are my pictures.

.Day 1: Coupon BinderTrying to get all of the expired coupons out and cutting/filing the new ones. It is a never-ending job, but worth it.

Day 2: Melodye playing drums on Guitar Hero.

When we bought Guitar Here World Tour the Complete Band Set, we thought Brooke would be the one playing the drums. But instead Melodye is the one that seems to be obsessed with the drums and doing quite well with it too.

Day 3: Messy Scrapbook Desk

This is a mess that I still need to deal with. This is a mess that is constantly building up and not because I am working on projects. What happens is that I clean elsewhere in the house and pile things here to deal with later. I really have to stop doing that and start dealing with the mess.

Day 4: Knitted Washcloth
I am so glad that I knit the washclothes from Mason-Dixon Knitting. I get a rush of pleasure each time I pull out a new one to use.

Day 5: Watching Harry Potter

This was the girls first time watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Melodye never thought she was ready to watch it until now. They watched part of it now and finished it and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets over the weekend. It was funny how much they really did enjoy the movies.

Day 6: Walgreens' Haul

I was able to buy all of this with coupons and gift cards and paid nothing out of pocket. If I didn't have a gift card I would have paid about $20 which is still a wonderful deal.

Day 7: No Picture
- I don't know what happened.

Day 8: New Dirt Devil

Tommy is so excited about this Dirt Devil Vacuum. He has been wanting one with this particular design and color. He was able to find it for 50% off at Target. He is hoping that this will help the girls with cleaning up their messes. We will see about that.

Day 9: Jalen's Birthday

We went to my parent's house for cousin, Jalen's birthday. Brooke was so excited to give Jalen Caribou (The price in this link is outrageous. It does not sell at stores for anywhere near that price. So do shop around.) for a present. Jalen is helping my dad plow the driveway in this picture.

Day 10: Brooke Sledding
We took the girls sledding. We realized that this was the first time that Brooke had ever been sledding and only the second for Melodye. What bad parents we are !! The girls had a blast. Brooke kept yelling "WooHoo" after each ride down this hill. We definitely will have to take them again.

Day 11: Bibs From Mason-Dixon Knitting

These bibs are for our neighbor's that have a new baby boy. The color is off, but they are green and blue. They are a quick and easy knit. I will definitely make more of these as gifts. Brooke also likes to try these on. LOL

Fingers Crossed

Supposedly, my laptop will be fixed tomorrow and ready for pickup. The part arrived today, so he will be putting back together tomorrow. I can't wait to have it back. I have really missed it.

Tommy's new new laptop should be arriving anytime now, although a snowstorm is supposed to be hitting all day tomorrow, so it may be delayed.

Yesterday, I had a really great day at Walgreens. (photo when the laptop is back) I got:

  • 8 Garnier Shampoos
  • 8 Garnier Conditioners
  • 8 Garnier Styling Products
  • 8 Boxes of Quaker Oatmeal
  • 1 Garnier Facial Cleansing Towelettes
  • 6 Boxes of Benefiber Sticks
  • 3 Hersheys/Reeses Candy Bars
  • 6 Cow Tales
For all of this I paid $o Out of Pocket, of course I have nothing left from my gift card I had left from last month's rebates. But if I did not have the gift card, I would have spent  $28.91 which is a wonderful deal. With coupons and sales, I saved $161.63!!!! Can you believe it? I had to keep looking at the receipts and telling my husband what a deal I got. And Tommy is so great that he knew to answer "Yes dear, You are awesome!" Oh and I still have a $5 Register Reward left.

Walgreens 12-13-08

So Saturday, we completed 5 transactions and made out quite nicely I might add.

Transactions 1, 2, and 3 :

  • 2 Aluminum Foil $1.69 X 2 = $3.38 - $1.40 (WQ) - $1.00 (MQ) - $1.00 (MQ) = -$.02 overage
  • 2 Arm and Hammer Laundry Detergent $6.99 X 2 = $13.98 - $10.00 (WQ) = $3.98
  • 6 Tissue Paper $.99 X 6 = $5.94 - $3.60 (WQ) = $2.34
  • 3 Walgreens Cough Drops $.99 X 3 = $2.97 - $1.80 (WQ) = $1.17
Total = $26.27 - $18.80 (Coupons) = $7.47 - $5.oo RR = $2.47 OOP and earned another $5 RR.

Transactions 4 and 5:
  • 2 Aluminum Foil $1.69 X 2 = $3.38 - $1.40 (WQ) = $1.98
  • 3 Walgreens Cough Drops $.99 X 3 = $2.97 - $1.80 (WQ) = $1.17
  • 2 Scotch Tape 3 packs = 2/$2.00
Total = $8.35 - $3.20 (Coupons) = $5.15 - $5.00 RR = $.15 OOP

I don't have any Register Rewards left, but I will receive a $2.00 rebate for the Scotch Tape and a $10.00 rebate for spending $25 on Walgreens cough drops. So I am feeling quite proud of myself for those little deals. And of course, I let my favorite cashier know about the deals. She didn't realize what deals are in the Easy Saver Rebate Catalog.

Weekend Highlights

This was another busy weekend, aren't they all. LOL Brooke had a soccer game Saturday at 9:00. Then we went home for her to change. The girls and I went to the Fun Fair at Karlee's school. Brooke has been dying to go because her buddies Sponge Bob and Patrick were going to be there.

For two week Brooke had been begging to go, but we had to remind her that Sponge Bob and Patrick had to come from Bikini Bottom which takes awhile.
Then Tommy met us at the FunFair because his class got out early. Then Tommy and I took Melodye to a Pet Party for Girl Scouts. An older girl held this Pet Party as part of her requirements for her Gold Award. The Pet Party was held to collect donations for the local Humane Society. Then Tommy and I went back to the Fun Fair and hung out there a bit. I ended up seeing a little girl from my class last year there. She was visiting with her cousin. Then found out our neighbor was now working at Karlee's school. Such a small world.
Tommy took Brooke home after the Fun Fair to clean house. I went to pick Melodye up from the Fun Fair and ended up bringing one of her friends, Tabby home. That girl can visit anytime she wants. Tabby wanted to play with Brooke and Melodye instead of trying to exclude Brooke. Melodye even said that her and Brooke played better together with Tabby around. Then we took Tabby home and ran errands until 8:30.
Sunday we thought Melodye's game was at 2:30. Ends up we were wrong. It was at 12:00. She was very upset about missing her game. We made it up to her by paying the $3 difference plus tax that she needed for a Build A Bear. Now she got the Hannah Montana one, but doesn't like Hannah Montana. Explain that one to me. Then we ran more errands. After that I spent the rest of the night doing bills and report cards. Good new is that I only have to put the attendance and comments on the report cards. What a relief to have those done.

Thursday and Friday I am going to be working in my classroom. I am going to try to remember to take some pictures of my room. I just relaized that I have never shown what it looks like. And since the kids won't be there Thursday and Friday that is the perfect time to do it.

Oh, I also got a great deal at Walgreens on Pert Plus. I bought two bottles, used the Walgreens Easy Saver coupon of $2.50 off of each. and then used the $1.oo coupons from the internet. They cam out to being free plus 2 cents off of my fillers. I used Blow Pops as my fillers. They are supposed to ring up as $1.49 but they are ringing up as 79 cents.

Walgreens Deal

I had a super deal at Walgreens this week. I was so excited I wanted to tell everyone I saw, but I did not. Although the cashier and lady behind me did comment on how wonderful I did.

I bought:

  • 6 Glade gel warmers
  • 2 Glade gel refills
  • 16 Halloween pencils
  • 2 Glad car refills
  • 2 Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Wipes
  • Visine

The order came to $37 and some odd change. I then used 3 Glade buy one get one free coupons for the warmers, 2 $1.00 off glade gel refills, coupon for the Halloween pencils, 2 $1.00 off coupons for Scrubbing Bubbles, $2.00 off Visine from Walgreens, and $2.00 off Visine from manufacturer. After that I used $15.00 Register Rewards.

I tried to use another $5.00 Register Reward, but it would not work. Later I found out it was because the subtotal was $4.41, so I could have used my $4.00 Register Reward. I then used a gift card for $5.00 that I received for a Register Reward that did not print. At this point my total was $1.68. I then used my gift card from my rebates last month.

So at this point I paid nothing out of pocket and I will be receiving $12 in a rebate plaus 10% for having it put on my giftcard.

Wasn't that just a wonderful shopping trip?

Recommendation

Yesterday I tried Scrubbing Bubbles Mega Shower Foamer for the first time. I wasn't sure if this would work or not, but I had a deal with a coupon and a previous Walgreens sale so I thought I would try. I have to say that this does work as it says. The spray took off quite a bit and what did not come off was extremely easy to wipe off afterwards. Definitely try this product if you hate scrubbing the shower.

Computers

Computers drive me crazy. I don't know what happened, but the laptop would not print. The firewall on the desktop was blocking it. Ok easy enough to fix, but due to an identified problem we could not open the firewall. And that is a direct quote. So tried a restore point, but we could not go back any further than Sept. 1. Finally ended up trying to restore back to factory settings, except some of the stuff is still on there but only part way. Which means that I have to go through each thing, see if it works, and uninstall and then reinstall it. Frustrating and time consuming, especially since I can't do more than one program at a time.

Earlier today while I was backing up Itunes, I read this:

Duke Most Wanted (Heiress Brides Series, Book #3) Duke Most Wanted by Celeste Bradley

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is the third book in the Heiress Bride series. I really enjoyed this one. I was cheering both characters on expecially since I had become attached to them from reading the other two books. This was a light but extremely enjoyable read.

View all my reviews.

Both girls had soccer games this weekend, but they were cancelled. The only way they could play is if they switched to water polo o had their boats out there. Which was nice because it did free up some time.

Went to Walgreens today and got some great deals. I forgot to take a picture before I put it away. But the lowdown is that the total came to $91.81 before coupons. After coupons I paid $38, recieved $5 register rewards and will receive $16 in rebates. Go me. Now this was a learning trip also concerning the register rewards. If you pay with register rewards, then the new register rewards will not print out. Which means that you should do multiple transactions. I asked so the manager said he would give them to me this time, but only this time which was nice of him. The only problem was that I did remember the one for $5, but not the one for $4.50. But as I said, I am using this as a learning experience.
