Weddings Can Be Murder

Weddings Can Be Murder Weddings Can Be Murder by Christie Craig

My review

I really enjoyed this book. This was a wonderful choice for me to read on a trip. I couldn't help but laugh out loud at times. I loved that the book would switch back and forth between which character's point of view was being told at that time.

2 In The Morning

New Kids have done it again. I love this song. I even caught Thomas singing it the other day, even though he hated admitting to that. Enjoy!! I know I did.

Craftiness

I was feeling particularly crafty Saturday. I actually spent multiple hours in my scrapbook room. It felt absolutely wonderful to take that time. I really need to do that more often. I also remembered to take pictures of my craftiness. I know it is amazing!

The first project I worked on and continued working on it through out the day was my clipboard for Library of Memories. I had to keep coming back in order to let the adhesive dry.   There are errors on the front where some of the pink came off, but I am okay with that. Now Melodye is asking me to make her a clipboard.

I loved the paper I used on the clipboard so much that I used it to make bookmarks. I got the plastic bookmark holders from ClearBags as a free sample. I will definitely be buying more of the holders. The bookmarks were so much fun to make. I wanted to make bookmarks ever since I saw Cynthia's bookmarks. She is very creative and so fun to read her blog entries. I couldn't find a like to the bookmarks (running out of time). Trust me! It will be worth it to just page through her blog. There is so much inspiration there.

My bookmark is on the left, Brooke's is in the middle, and Melodye's is on the right. Melodye really took over the design of her bookmark. She picked out the ribbons and drew on the bookmark. Brooke's bookmark was inspired because she was playing with the orange ribbon and she had just bought the fish paper at one of the scrapbook stores going out of business near us. (Yes, I said one of them. The two that are close are closing. So sad that had to happen.) I have included a close up of the back of my bookmark.

Melodye had a birthday party to go to on Sunday. I made a card and matching envelope. I can't show the envelope because it had the little girl's name on it and we need to protect other's privacy. I didn't wrap the present this time. I decided to just wrap a bow around it. It was stress reducing to do this and I love how it turned out.

Earlier in the month I finished my Harry Potter socks. The yarn is from Sunshine Yarns. Dani's customer service is wonderful and the shipping is super fast. I have two more sets of sock yarn from her left to knit. I can't wait. I have the Tonks and Every Color Beans colorways. The pictures aren't that great, but you get the idea. I used the Classic Sock Pattern from the book 2-At-A-Time Socks

A Good Yarn

A Good Yarn A Good Yarn by Debbie Macomber

My review

This was recommended to me since I knit. I didn't think there was anything spectacular about this book. Although, I did want to find out what happened to the characters in the book; I have no desire to read her other books.

The Wizard of Seattle

The Wizard of Seattle The Wizard of Seattle by Kay Hooper

My review

  rating: 3 of 5 stars
This was an interesting read. I enjoyed that different parts of the book made me think about what would this mean in the real world. Although, I didn't become as attached to the characters like I usually do with Kay Hooper's books. This might be because this was an earlier book.

I do not know where the week went. I really did plan on posting the pictures of the Home Decorating Projects, but I didn't. So here they are now.

This is in our entryway when you come in the front door. The Welcome sign up above the project was picked up at the Blueberry Festival a few years ago.
This is the front door. It will be repainted this summer. I do think that something needs to go on each side of the numbers, but I have not decided what will go there.
***********************************************************************************
This week I also read a book.

I had a little trouble getting into this book, but I think that had more to do with my schedule instead of the book. Once I go into the book, I did not want to stop reading. In fact, I was up to 2:00 am reading. I have not read the other Ali Reynolds books, but I definitely will be looking them up. Cruel Intent is a very up to date book with the references to the internet and viruses. At the same time that this is a fiction book it does have an influence on what everyone needs to be aware of safety wise with the internet.

Last weekend Maddy and Nonnie stayed the night. Brooke and Maddy went to bed. After awhile I went to check on them. This is what I found. The two of them had been reading in bed for quite awhile. There was a pile of books between the two of them. I loved seeing the two of them reading without any provocation.

An Accomplishment

I completed two Home Decoration Projects tonight. No pictures because I completed the projects 9:30 at night which makes for awful looking pictures. The first project was in the entry way announcing our family. I have been wanting to do this for almost two years. Yes, you read that right. I finally bit the bullect and told myself to stop worrying about perfection. Now I am so glad that I finished. I love how it looks. I can't wait to take the picture tomorrow. The other project was for decoration and safety purposes. We do have our house number on the house, but I decided that I wanted to add it to the door, but now I am thinking of putting some kind of shape before and after the numbers. I am going to have to ponder this idea a little before I decide. I used the Cricut Expression with vinyl using the Alphalicious cartridge to complete the projects that I promise you will see tomorrow.

This Week Is Over

Boy am I glad this week is over. It was a terribly long week. Here's the rundown.

  • Brooke has been sick with a cold for two weeks and now I have it and feel like I have been run over by a truck. I took Nyquil last night since both girls slept over friend's houses. I think Dayquil works better for me than the Nyquil.
  • I had to report a case of sexual abuse for one of my students. I am still upset over this.
  • Found out that it is official that my school is closing after this year. There are no other details. Our principal doesn't want to talk about the details. She thinks the district office needs to be the ones to talk to us, but who knows when that will be happening since it's hard to coordinate schedules for the district office, the union, and others. Craziness.
  • Went on a field trip yesterday. My kids and parents were wonderful. They were my saving grace. Another class got lost beforehand, So I had to walk around the place TWICE. Yes twice to find them to give them their tickets. This part is not going to be filled with details because I do not want to have it come back to haunt me. Let's just say that a student ended up missing for a short time from this class and I ended up being the one looking for him. It all ended up fine. He was found. But I did have to go to the principal concerning the situation. And now there is a meeting scheduled for the grade level concerning this situation.
  • District Wide Testing for second on up happened this week. This meant that there were no specials this week. The special teachers are used to proctor the test. So I spent Friday night copying for next week because that was the first chance I had. I was worn out when I got home.
But today is a new day and it will definitely be much better. Right now I am going to take another dose of Dayquil, take a shower, and find out when I am picking these girls up.

Plum Spooky

Plum Spooky (A Stephanie Plum Between the Numbers/Holiday Novel, #4) Plum Spooky by Janet Evanovich

My review

  rating: 3 of 5 stars
Normally I have felt that the Between the Numbers books haven't been that great. Plum Spooky is the exception. There were quite a few laugh out loud moments. Of course unbelievable moments that are true Stephanie Plum moments. And Joe and Ranger are still absolutely adorable. I can't figure out which one I like better.

Super bowl Commercial

This is my husband's favorite Super Bowl commercial this year. Every year we record the Super Bowl. Watch the commercials and fast forward the game. This way he can see highlights to talk about it, but only watch what he enjoys. This one made him laugh so much he could barely breathe.

Desk and Filing Cabinet Reorganization

Once again, the month has ended and Organizing Junkie's Monthly Round-Up is happening again. The focus this time was the office area. Our computer desk is in out kitchen/dining room. The computer is located there so that we can always see what the girls are doing on the computer. The problem with it being there is that it is easy to stack things up and they tend to leave things there.
So here are some before and after pictures.

This is the desk beforehand. The filing cabinet is to the right, but it will be shown later. The desk is messier than we really like.

The first thing I did was move the desk and filing cabinet to the wall next to where it was. I tend to organize better when I start over from scratch. I then pulled everything but the computer and printer off the desk. The top shelf is holding DVDs, a basket with paper, writing utensils, and scissors, a basket holding odds and ends, extra sharpie markers, and extra paper. The second shelf has the external hard drive, air in a can, tissues turned sideways so the girls can reach, bins with ipod extras and tape, coupon binder, cd box, and binder with computer games. The desk top has the monitor, speakers, printer, and a stack of papers on the left that are receipts for my husband to go through.

This is the filing cabinet before.

I had my husband hang the letter holder. I have been looking for a different one, but I haven't been able to find one that I like. We finally decided to just continue using the one that we have had since the early 90's. The paper sorters have printer paper on the top shelf, the second one has resume paper and writing paper, the third shelf has photo paper and labels, the fourth shelf has file folders, and the last shelf has scrap paper. The scrap paper is extra papers from school that I use the back to print coupons and for the girls to draw on when they want paper. The blue file organizer next to the paper sorters is for anything tax related for the current year. I will be putting another one there to keep the current years receipts in. I am not showing the inside of the filing cabinet. I only have the current year files in the files. Every January I empty it out and get things ready for taxes. So I did not make any changes from usual in there. If anyone wants to know how the drawer is labeled, just ask and I will share.

This is the counter between the kitchen and dining room. We are really bad about piling things there until we decide to deal with them. This is a problem for both of us. But I have made it a goal this year to keep it clean. It has been cleaned off a couple of times so far this year.

This is the counter after. There are still a few things that need to be put away. The items include Melodye's nutcracker and a Christmas ornament that need to go in the Christmas stuff downstairs, a CD holder that my husband got from my parents, two bibs knitted for the neighbors, a camera, and a candle.

This may not look like it is organized, but there is a purpose to papers being on the chair. These are papers that need to be shredded. Our shredder can only do 6 sheets at a time and then needs to rest. I put the papers on the chair so that I will see it and shred it each time. The stack is much smaller than what it was at the beginning of January. These are all the bills and records that are from last year that we do not need for taxes. If I put the papers on the desk, table, or counter I would not remember to shred them or I would just pile something on top of them and forget about the pile.
I feel so much better about getting this assignment finished. I can't wait for the next month's of assignement of recipes. I have gathered my recipes in a file a couple of years ago, but have never done anything with them. Hopefully this month I can do a little bit at a time instead of doing it all in one day like usual. LOL
