I Have A Real Problem

I have a real problem when people try to tell me that I am wrong when I know 100% that I am correct. Today I had a meeting for Kindergarten teachers. We had to take a pretest as a table about Guided Reading. I started to tell what I knew, when another teacher told me that I was completely wrong that she knew what Guided Reading was because she is in a Masters Program. At this point, I just let her go on about what she knew. I figured that it would be known that she was wrong when the meeting started. And of course she was proven wrong. I did make a couple of side remarks about "how that is what I said all along." If I am wrong, then yes I want to know that, but do not tell me something when you are talking out of your butt. I really can't stand that.

This weekend I am going to the Indiana State Reading Conference. I am excited to go. I have the sessions highlighted that I want to attend. I can't wait to see Gay Su Pinnell present. She really knows waht she talks about. In fact I did get her one of her newest books, Making Words Kindergarten, and it is amazing. I can't wait to get things ready so I can implement it. I really do think that it will help my students with the problems that they are having with blending. While in Indianapolis, I am hoping that the weather will cooperate so I can take some pictures downtown outside. I also can't wait to eat at Einsten Bros. I haven't eaten there since we lived in California.

The Dreaded Pink Eye

I have the dreaded pink eye. Now I have had pink eye many times before this, just not this bad. Usually it comes on slowly, but there was no warning. Last night while I was on the computer, my eye just started hurting and getting blurry. I went to look in the mirror. It was bright read, gook pouring out of it and swollen. When I woke up this morning it was stuck shut, and swollen. When Tommy got home, it was so swollen that it looked like I was punched in the eye. Needless to say, I stayed home from work. I took a little nap. When I woke up, the other eye had joined in the race for making me look frightening. The worst part is the pain that seems to be constant whether my eyes are open or closed. The doctor has prescribed me medicine that has to be done every TWO hours. Like I have already said . . . . it's never been this bad let alone take the medicine that often. I am hoping that my eyes will be cleared up enough so that I can go to work tomorrow.

READING

I finished reading 7th Heaven by James Patterson this weekend. Of course it was an easy ready, because all of James Patterson's books are easy reads. But there was something about this book that I really enjoyed. I think this is probably one of my favorite Women's Murder Club books. Although, I did have some problems at the beginning of the book with the differences between the books and the TV show.

If you have not read with Suzanne at Dear Reader you really should check it out. Basically you sign up for a neswletter based on the type of books that you like. You will receive an email Monday through Friday with a snippet of the book. By the end of the week you will have read approximately two chapters of the book, enough to know if you want to keep reading or not. In the email, Suzanne writes a Dear Reader column and they are just lovely to read. I have read many books that I would not have been exposed to if it had not been for Suzanne and Dear Reader.

This weekend I told Tommy that he really should be grateful for the library. Of course he scoffed at this until I explained why. If I did not have such a wonderful library, I would be spending bukoo bucks at the bookstores, which would really be wasted since I usually read books only one time.

Right now I have three books waiting in my library bag. They are T is for Trespass, No Place Like Home, and Tempting The Prince.

I did read about a book that has just come out on MSN. I can't wait until I can read this book. I might even buy it if it is as wonderful as I want it to be. The book I am looking forward to is
Before Anne of Green Gables: The Prequel To Anne of Green of Gables.

I did order two books this weekend. I know unbelievable. I ordered Making Words Kindergarten and The Organized and Inspired Scrapbooker.

Happy President's Day

The girls had today off from school. They stayed the night at Nanny and Papaw's house and of course had a blast. Since we didn't have the girls, Tommy and I went to Don Pablo's for dinner and saw Definitely, Maybe. The movie was wonderful. Definitely a Must See. It's amazing how we went to the movies every weekend when we were dating and now we are lucky if we even know what is currently playing. Strange.

I got my book on learning to knit two sock at once using the Magic Loop method. I can't wait to try, but I promised myself that I will finish the baby blanket first. So the socks are just waiting to be discovered.

At work I feel like I am on the hamster wheel just running and not getting anywhere. This week I am in the classroom all week, but I am having to work ahead on things because I have a few days coming up where I will not be in the classroom. Next week we have an assembly on Monday and Friday, Thursday I will be at the district office for a training all day, The following Sunday, Monday and Tuesday I will be in Indianapolis for a Reading Conference. Then I will have two weeks and it is Spring Break. The grade level summatives (huge plan for the grade level of what we are doing to bring achievement up) that I am in charge of is due the week after spring break and I am not anywhere near finished (although neither is any other grade level.). And then it is April, May, and June which will fly by and I can't help, but worry/stress that I don't have enough time to get everything taught that needs to be taught. I also am working on getting progress reports out this Friday because Report Cards will have to be done before the end of March. I just seem to be running out of time. But I know it will all work out because it has to, there's not a choice. I do feel better after ranting and raving just a little here.

Baby Blanket Update

I have finally taken pictures of the baby blanket I have been working on for Jason and Denise.
I can't believe how quickly it seems to be going. Although I probably won't agree when it comes time to weave in all of the ends.

Sick Part 2

Monday, Melodye went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Influenza A. She has been pretty miserable. I then followed suit. The doctors have prescribed Tamiflu for the two of us and Brooke. Hopefully this will keep Brooke from getting sick. THis flu has unbelievable worn us out.

While Melodye has been sick, she has either slept, watched TV, read or played on Webkinz.

Sicky, McSick, Sick

No update lately. This weekend has been a sick weekend. Melodye came down with a fever that has ranged from 100.0 to 101.6 all weekend with a sore throat and cough. Of course this all started while we were visiting Noel and Jill. So now Maddie and Nonnie have been exposed. Sorry guys. Brooke seems okay. But I also seem to have the flu. Coughing, achy, and such, but no fever. Hopefully these sicknesses are about through with us and no one else will get them.

Saturday Jill and I went to a lys called Sheep's Clothing in Valparaiso. They had mover their location. We went to the new location and it was hopping with people in there. Not one person said hello or can we help you. We wandered around looking and of course feeling the yarn, but not one person acknowledged us. As we were leaving another customer came in and was acknowledged. I guess that customer was someone special in comparison to us. I don't think so. So they lost our business. I instead went to www.knitpicks.com and placed an order. It came out cheaper anyway for me. I go a book on knitting socks with the Magic Loop method, some needles for the magic loop, and some sock yarn. I did tell Jill that I would have to take her to the lys in Highland called Stitch By Stitch. There you are acknowledged and helped. I have even had other customers say hello. THis is a much more inviting store and will definitely get return visits from me.

I have started round four and Jason and Denise's baby blanket, but I still forgot to take a picture.

Since then

I haven't updated lately. I have been extremely tired and exhausted. In the evening I feel as if I just cannot keep my eyes open or even walk to the bedroom. I fell asleep on the couch quite a few times. I really don't think the thyroid medicince is at the right level, but I could be wrong. I can't wait to just have this tired and exhausted feeling gone.

Friday I took the day off and took Brooke to get her hearing checked. Everything came out wonderful. So this means that we have to really watch the wax in her ears since it builds up so fast and does affect her hearing. I am just thankful that we know 100% that her hearing is not affecting her speech delay.

After the appointment, Brooke wanted to go back to daycare. So back she went. I was going to clean house, but I didn't. Instead I watched Gilmore Girls and knitted all day. I am currently almost completed with the third round of squares on the baby blanket I am making for Jason and Denise. Not too bad since there are five rounds and the edge. I will have to see if I can get a picture today of the progress I have made.

January goals were just about all met. I did not work out 12 times, but I did do five and then got sick. I did not clean off the back counter at school. But other than those two things I met all of my goals. Later tonight I will try to update and make my February Goals list. Until then.
