Where has this week gone?

Time is flying way too fast. How can this be the end of January? I have not kept up with my picture a day. That didn't last long. LOL. I don't know why I have been so tired this week.

  • Twice this week I fell asleep about 5:30pm on the couch and slept until morning. I know it's not my thyroid since I saw my doctor Monday and all my test results are at the really good end of normal.
  • My dad ended up in the hospital with chest pains, had an angiogram, and told that his arteries are wide open, his stents are working wonderfully. So he was sent home and greatly relieved that his heart is not causing problems.
  • Melodye had Problem Solving Night at school.
  • getting last minute things ready for a field trip to see Disney on Ice next week. Let's just say that paperwork I filled out and turned in on December 4, 2008 was lost and not due to anything with me. So all of that paperwork had to be redone. But it all worked out and we are able to attend
  • Attended a funeral, a little sister of a child in my class passed away suddenly. Such a sad case for such a wonderful family.
Now you know my week in a nutshell. I have been pretty tired and busy. I will definitely try to post more in the coming week.

I knitted a pair of Fetching for a friend at work. But I forgot to take a picture. I worked a little bit on my Harry Potter socks. I crocheted a bath pouf. It was a little skimpy, redid it and found out I looked at a part that was supposed to be 25 times and thought it was five. "Silly Me" So I am redoing the bath pouf. I would like for us to use it before making any more to make sure that we like it. I did read one book this week.

Not much to say other than I liked it, tooke me about a week to read with a crazy schedule, and wondering if there are other books concerning the other characters in the book.

Charmed & Dangerous

Charmed and Dangerous (Bronwyn the Witch, Book 1) Charmed and Dangerous by Candace Havens

My review

  rating: 2 of 5 stars
I enjoyed the second and third book. But this one, the first, was not as enjoyable. Part of the problem was that some of the events happened differently in the first, second, and third books, even though they are the same events. If this was the first book of the series I had read, I probably would not have gone on to read the other two.

Where Does The Time Go?

I do not know how it happens. I have an extra day off of work, and I get even less done than I normally do. I always plan on getting lots done, but somehow I did not get any of it even started let alone finished. This weekend was a lot of errand running, straightening of the house, and having friends over on Saturday. But other than that, I didn't get anything else finished. I just don't know where the time goes.

Another example, we have tickets to go see Disney on Ice for Wednesday. We did not realize that it was this week until we looked at the calendar. It just seemed like there was another week in there somewhere. I do not know where the month has gone. It has really flown. But the girls are excited to go. We also have the girls and Tommy having dentist appointments tomorrow after school, which makes for a long day. Today I had my blood test for my thyroid for my appointment next week. Sometime it just seems like there is always something or somewhere to go or do.

I know this is a weird post, but I just needed to vent a little. My picture a day is not going so well. I have missed quite a few days. But I am going to try to get going again. I also haven't worked out in a week, but I am going to start again because I can and will still meet my goal of working out 24 times by Valentine's Day. Right now I have completed 4 times, only 20 more to go.

Twilight Times Two

I went tonight to see Twilight again for the second time. I ended up going by myself, but when I showed up at the theater, my friend Kim was there. so I sat with her. Now she is a big fan. This was her seventh time seeing the movie.

I enjoyed myself alot more the second time. This time I didn't have to worry about whether it was going to live up to my expectations. I already knew it would. I was able to notice details that I had not seen before. I loved Bella's multicolorblocked scarf. I really need to find a pattern for that.

After the movie, I discovered that I am not meant to live in Alaska. When I got to the van, the outside of the windows did not have ice, but the inside of the windows did. I ended up having to sit forever to get that defrosted. So while I waited I listened to the end of the Stash and Burn podcast and a little bit of New Kids.

A Wallflower Christmas

A Wallflower Christmas (Wallflower Quartet 5) A Wallflower Christmas by Lisa Kleypas

My review

rating: 3 of 5 stars
I have not read the other Wallflower Books. But now I don want to, I am interested in the stories that have already been told. I do wish that this would have been longer. I would have liked more details of Rafe and Hannah's courtship of each other, but it will do as it is.

Update on Pictures

Now as I have said before, I am going to do A Picture a Day for 2009. But I did not start until January 2.

So here are my pictures.

.Day 1: Coupon BinderTrying to get all of the expired coupons out and cutting/filing the new ones. It is a never-ending job, but worth it.

Day 2: Melodye playing drums on Guitar Hero.

When we bought Guitar Here World Tour the Complete Band Set, we thought Brooke would be the one playing the drums. But instead Melodye is the one that seems to be obsessed with the drums and doing quite well with it too.

Day 3: Messy Scrapbook Desk

This is a mess that I still need to deal with. This is a mess that is constantly building up and not because I am working on projects. What happens is that I clean elsewhere in the house and pile things here to deal with later. I really have to stop doing that and start dealing with the mess.

Day 4: Knitted Washcloth
I am so glad that I knit the washclothes from Mason-Dixon Knitting. I get a rush of pleasure each time I pull out a new one to use.

Day 5: Watching Harry Potter

This was the girls first time watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Melodye never thought she was ready to watch it until now. They watched part of it now and finished it and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets over the weekend. It was funny how much they really did enjoy the movies.

Day 6: Walgreens' Haul

I was able to buy all of this with coupons and gift cards and paid nothing out of pocket. If I didn't have a gift card I would have paid about $20 which is still a wonderful deal.

Day 7: No Picture
- I don't know what happened.

Day 8: New Dirt Devil

Tommy is so excited about this Dirt Devil Vacuum. He has been wanting one with this particular design and color. He was able to find it for 50% off at Target. He is hoping that this will help the girls with cleaning up their messes. We will see about that.

Day 9: Jalen's Birthday

We went to my parent's house for cousin, Jalen's birthday. Brooke was so excited to give Jalen Caribou (The price in this link is outrageous. It does not sell at stores for anywhere near that price. So do shop around.) for a present. Jalen is helping my dad plow the driveway in this picture.

Day 10: Brooke Sledding
We took the girls sledding. We realized that this was the first time that Brooke had ever been sledding and only the second for Melodye. What bad parents we are !! The girls had a blast. Brooke kept yelling "WooHoo" after each ride down this hill. We definitely will have to take them again.

Day 11: Bibs From Mason-Dixon Knitting

These bibs are for our neighbor's that have a new baby boy. The color is off, but they are green and blue. They are a quick and easy knit. I will definitely make more of these as gifts. Brooke also likes to try these on. LOL

It's Back!!!!!!!!

My laptop is back, but I can't get the upgrade for our Network Magic to install correctly, which means no internet on it. And for some reason Tommy's laptop will not connect to the internet either, even though the Network Magic says that it is connected. Enough to make a sane person scream.

Cross Country

Cross Country Cross Country by James Patterson

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
As always, I cannot put this James Patterson book down. This book keeps you wondering what is going on because Alex Cross doesn't understand what is going on. The ending made me exclaim out loud. It is amazing how James Patterson can leave you salivating for the next book with only one paragraph that only has a few sentences in it.

Fingers Crossed

Supposedly, my laptop will be fixed tomorrow and ready for pickup. The part arrived today, so he will be putting back together tomorrow. I can't wait to have it back. I have really missed it.

Tommy's new new laptop should be arriving anytime now, although a snowstorm is supposed to be hitting all day tomorrow, so it may be delayed.

Yesterday, I had a really great day at Walgreens. (photo when the laptop is back) I got:

  • 8 Garnier Shampoos
  • 8 Garnier Conditioners
  • 8 Garnier Styling Products
  • 8 Boxes of Quaker Oatmeal
  • 1 Garnier Facial Cleansing Towelettes
  • 6 Boxes of Benefiber Sticks
  • 3 Hersheys/Reeses Candy Bars
  • 6 Cow Tales
For all of this I paid $o Out of Pocket, of course I have nothing left from my gift card I had left from last month's rebates. But if I did not have the gift card, I would have spent  $28.91 which is a wonderful deal. With coupons and sales, I saved $161.63!!!! Can you believe it? I had to keep looking at the receipts and telling my husband what a deal I got. And Tommy is so great that he knew to answer "Yes dear, You are awesome!" Oh and I still have a $5 Register Reward left.

Such Excitement

What a surprise yesterday when I opened my email and found out that I had won Organizing Junkie's monthly round-up prize. Sorry for no graphic. That darn computer is still in the shop!!! I couldn't believe it. I won a spot in Aby Garvey's organizing workshop. I have been wanting to try out her workshops, but worried about the expense and whether it would be worth it. I also have Aby's book The Organized and Inspired Scrapbooker., which I absolutely love. Such great ideas and wonderful eye candy to boot.

Ready or Not

Whether we are ready or not, it is back to school time tomorrow. Excited on one hand to be back, but on the other hand I did not finish nearly half of what I wanted to accomplish. But then I hardly ever can complete a to-do list. I always put way more than can be humanly accomplished that way I never run out of things to do.

Dashing Through The Snow

I have taken my picture for today, but the laptop still is not finished. So when the laptop is back, I will download my pictures and add a batch all at one time. But trust me I have taken pictures for my days.

Here is a link to a really good deal for Scholastic Books. They are marked down to $1.00 each and the shipping is $2.25 for 25 items. This is a deal that cannot be beat.

This was a lighthearted read. Quick, I don't know if I am going to be able to continue reading the collaborated books between mother and daughter. They are not bad, but there are other things I would like to read before picking up these now.

MIA

My laptop is in the shop. Waiting for a part to be delivered so that it can be fixed. The port where the plug goes in, so essentially the power port, had to be replaced. It is loose and will cause the plug to just fall out and the battery to not stay charged. Real annoying. Trust me.

So no pictures for this post, they are all on the laptop. In the meantime, we went to see Wicked in Chicago on New Years Eve. It was amazing. I was completely blown away. We went to the afternoon showing so we had family and friends over to watch movies and play video games to bring in the new year. Real relaxing which is always good, but I forgot to take any pictures.

The first was spent sleeping off and on. Now today the second we had cousin, Sami, from Iowa come visit and stay the night. I am still trying to get them to sleep and it is 10:30 at night.

Tommy go a refurbished laptop from Costco for Christmas, but he decided 17" is too big so we took it back today and order a smaller one today. He better like this one. (Just joking, sort of, sweetie)

And of course the obligatory New Years Resolutions:

  •  Take more pictures. I would like to try taking a picture a day, but I missed Day One, so mayble I will do 364 or have my 365 go until January 1, 2010.
  • Get healthy, which includes exercise and healthy eating. And of course making healthier choices including not eating out as much.
  • Pay off my student loan and the van. Look into refinancing the house and possibly doing that.Try to control the spending, which has started because of couponing.
  • Taking Big Picture's Library of Memories class and organizing those pictures so that I will scrapbook more.
  • Craft more, doesn't matter what craft, but actually documenting ehat I do make. (Reminds me I need to take pictures of fingerless mitts I made for Mel and a baby bib I finished for the neighbor's new son.)
  • Just be happy. Stop letting other people influence my moods. I am tired of being grumpy because the people around me are.
